MODESTONE waterproof notebooks are made from stone paper, allowing you to take notes anywhere.
Manufactured in Finland.
Competing products are mostly made from regular paper coated with wax on top and bottom. However, when notebooks made from wax-coated paper are cut to size during production, the edges of the paper remain unwaxed, allowing moisture to quickly seep in. For instance, during military service, such notebooks can easily become unusable within a couple of rainy days. This is not the case with stone paper notebooks.
How did stone paper notebooks originate in Finland?
MODESTONE waterproof notebooks are the result of extensive product development. The idea for a waterproof notebook originated from Kalle Kinnunen’s experience in the Finnish Defense Forces, where important notes made by him during officer school were ruined by water.
As Kalle’s parents worked in the printing industry, he got the idea to develop his own product. The first challenge was to find the ideal material for the sheets. This led to the idea of stone paper. MODESTONE stone paper withstands water and grease, does not tear easily, and is not eaten by insects.
MODESTONE stone paper has another great feature: it allows writing on it with an old key or even with a ballpoint pen, try it. You may not always have a pen or pencil handy.
MODESTONE stone paper is an environmentally friendly choice. Stone paper is made from 80% CaCO3 and only 20% HDPE.
It is estimated that producing 1 ton of stone paper (compared to producing 1 ton of paper pulp):
• emits less carbon
• saves 7480 gallons of fresh water
• reduces CO2 emissions
• does not produce 19.05 kg of water-based waste
• removes 107.05 kg of atmospheric emissions
• saves 6 million BTUs of energy
• saves the felling of 20 trees
